Happenings and Movie Reviews

Recent happenings include:
Going bird-watching with M&D Galli at Farmington Bay. A first for Andrew.

Changing the Muskooteer's oil with Ammon.

Studying diligently in preparation for the arrival of baby boy Marshall!

In other news, Andrew has a few movies he needs to see before the baby comes (the word on the street is that movies aren't good for babies, so we're planning to abstain for a season once he's born). Well we saw two last week and they were both fantastic, no matter what the critics are saying.
"Speed Racer" had the action, the story, the wholesomeness, and the fun that every summer movie begs for. Their was a family feel to the film that is untraceable in most movies these days, especially good ones. The Wachowski bros. have done it again, this time with knock-out colors and effects. The story includes motifs of repentance and forgiveness, corporate control versus the mom and pop shop, and playing for the love of the game. It's great fun. Go see it. And thanks for taking us Dad Galli!
The other film we saw was "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." It was sweet! Indy was back, fedora and bull whip in hand. While it lacked the substance and depth of the third installment ("The Last Crusade" being one of the greatest action movies ever) it was full of thrills, laughs and even a touch of sentimentality. It felt like Ford, Lucas and Spielburg just got together for a reunion tour and decided to pull out all the stops. And, by the way, this film is less graphic in its violence, less profane in its language, and less suggestive in its sexual content than the previous films. It too is great fun. Go see it. And thanks for taking us Dad Marshall!

My sentiments exactly about the Indiana Jones film, Jayson and I both thought it was very enjoyable. We will have to check out "Speed Racer".
